Frequently Asked Questions
Absolutely! Electrolysis is the only method approved by the FDA to permanently remove unwanted hair. As the hair is treated, regrowth is prevented rather than removed temporarily. Only electrolysis provides both hair removal and hair elimination. A hair treat in
its growing stage will be dead and gone FOREVER!
Immediately following treatment, there may be a temporary redness or tenderness, which varies with each individual. The latest technology has made electrolysis more comfortable and effective than ever before. Your electrologist will provide post-treatment instructions and any personal attention you may need. You can be assured of the best care from a skilled hair removal professional.
Electrolysis can treat any area of the body, and skin type, and any hair color. Unlike laser, electrolysis is effective even on red, gray, and white hair.
Unlike other hair removal options, professionally performed electrolysis permanently eliminates unwanted hair, with unsurpassed results. Moreover, it does so for the most extensive variety of skin and hair types.
Other methods may appear less expensive or more convenient, but these seeming advantages fade quickly when considering the need for long-term use and lifetime maintenance.
Electrolysis works on most body areas to give you permanently smooth, sleek, healthy-looking skin. No other solution can claim such universal acceptability and success.
Electrolysis is the only method recognized by the FDA for permanent hair removal.
It is a micro-pulse of electricity that targets the growth structure of the hair root. The hair shaft is released by the process and permanently removed. This is the tried-and-true solution, performed by both electrology professionals and healthcare providers.
Laser provides hair reduction, not permanent hair removal.
Melanin in the hair absorbs energy from the laser, creating heat that damages the hair follicle. Light hair, blond hair, red hair, white hair, gray hair, and dark skin are more challenging for laser treatment.
-Avoid caffeine, sun exposure, and retinol-based facial products.
-Remove makeup.
-If you have a low pain tolerance, apply a topical numbing cream 30–45 minutes before your procedure.
*However, this is not necessary for most clients. The procedure is surprisingly more comfortable than expected and feels like a mosquito bite.
-Take Tylenol if needed.
-Electrolysis works best on freshly exfoliated skin. it is recommended to use an exfoliating face or body scrub prior to your treatment.
-Avoid sun exposure and retinol-based products, which may irritate the skin.
-Cool compresses are okay, but never ice.
-Use a gentle facial cleansing system.
*I recommend applying Finipil, an anti-microbial, antibacterial cream that soothes post-procedure skin.
Electrolysis Basics
Electrolysis hair removal is a method that uses an electric current to destroy hair follicles, providing a permanent solution to unwanted hair growth.
Understanding Electrolysis Modalities
Modern electrolysis technology permanently destroys hair growth cells using chemical energy, heat energy, or a combination of both. The specific technique used is known as the modality. All modalities are effective and can deliver permanent hair removal results.
There are three primary electrolysis modalities in use today:
Galvanic Electrolysis
Galvanic electrolysis uses a gentle electrical current to create a chemical reaction within the hair follicle. This reaction targets and destroys the hair growth cells at the root.
Thermolysis (Short-Wave)
Thermolysis uses heat energy to disable the hair growth cells inside the follicle. The current may be applied at a higher intensity for a very short time, or at a lower intensity for a slightly longer duration, depending on the treatment area and hair type.
The Blend Method
The Blend method combines both galvanic and thermolysis currents. The heat from thermolysis accelerates the chemical reaction produced by the galvanic current, resulting in effective destruction of the hair growth cells.
Individual treatments
Treatment times vary depending on the area being treated. Appointments can be as short as a few minutes for follow-up sessions, or up to an hour for larger treatment areas.
Overall treatment duration
Most clients who follow the recommended treatment plan can expect to complete their sessions, or be very close to completion, within approximately 18 months.
What factors affect my treatment plan?
Several factors influence the length and effectiveness of treatment, including hair growth cycles, hair density and texture, previous use of temporary hair removal methods, genetics, hormone levels, certain medications, and stress. Because of this, each treatment plan is tailored to the individual.
Unwanted hair can vary widely in texture and color, from fine, light vellus hair to darker, coarser hair on the face and body. Thicker, deeply rooted hairs often require multiple treatments to fully disable the hair growth cells.
Following a private and confidential consultation, your electrologist will create a customized treatment plan tailored to your individual hair type, growth patterns, and hair removal goals.
Cancelation Policy
Your appointment is critical! It is reserved especially for you. We understand that unexpected events happen in everyone’s life; sometimes, schedule adjustments are necessary. Therefore, in fairness to all clients, the following policies apply:
To avoid a cancelation fee, 24-hour advance notice is required when canceling all appointments. This allows someone else to fill your appointment time. A 50% deposit will be required to secure your booking appointment time. **Clients who give less than 24 hours of cancelation notice will be charged 50% of their scheduled service fee. Please understand that clients on my waiting list miss the opportunity to receive services when they forget or cancel their appointment without giving 24 hours' notice. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
No-Shows
All "no-shows" will be charged 100% of their scheduled service and may be restricted in scheduling future appointments.
Late Arrivals
If you arrive late to your scheduled appointment, your session may be shortened to accommodate guests following your appointment. We allow a 15-minute grace period, after which the appointment will be considered a no-show and must be rescheduled. You will be responsible for paying the no-show/cancelation fee.
Out of respect and consideration for your clinician and other guests, please arrive on time.
